About Cheyin
My Story
I was born in Sarasota and raised in Bradenton. Before it became the bustling metropolis it is today, entertainment there for young people was at a premium. I read a lot of books and watched a lot of movies. All of that sparked my imagination to create my own stories. But a deep seated desire to serve the public won over that, so off to USF in Tampa I went.
While living here, I've seen and done so much: learned the art of goaltending at Terrace Sports, met my wife at the Cuban Club in Ybor City while throwing beads with the Krewe of Mambi, witnessed the births of my progeny, and hosted wine tasting events even though I know nothing about rotten grapes. I have met some of the most amazing and kind hearted people here. Tampa is a collection of cultures and personalities that meld together into a unique cocktail with a flavor that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Throughout my academic, personal, and professional life, I have always been complimented on my ability to write. I had been in the habit of jotting down story ideas, but they never progressed far from that. In 2013, I decided to do something about it.
Inspired by this city and the interesting mix people within it, I wrote my first book and a sequel. The third and final book of the project is in the works. I'm hoping to have it completed by the end of 2024. Stay tuned!
When I'm not working, playing hockey, or trying to annoy my teenage children, I type my stories at a pace of 30 words per minute. Because I never learned how to typewrite. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my efforts because at the heart of it all, it's why I do it.
